Bad bedside manner and no follow up. Very condescending bedside manner. I sat in a chair in a cramped space instead of sitting on the exam table. It was awkward and uncomfortable. I came for a knee injury. I don’t recall how my height came into the conversation, but he mentioned his friend’s daughter in Florida who grew to be 5’2. This didn’t pertain to my injury. I don’t know if he subliminally wanted to make me feel bad that I’m 4’11, but I’m fine with it. I have a wonderful 6 ft husband which I didn’t mention as I’m here for an exam not to make small talk. He finally examined my knee which was quick. I asked him if I could take my yoga class before taking an MRI, and he brings up his wife. Totally cutting me off that my yoga instructor would be sensitive to my injury, so whatever he said about his wife was irrelevant. When we were done, he picked up my AirPods that were next to me before I could, which wasn’t necessary. I thought that was rude and dismissive. The kicker is that I went for an MRI well over one week ago. I was able to log in for the results the next day. Dr.Tehrany never called to discuss the next steps. Fortunately it wasn’t a serious injury, but how unprofessional to not follow up. I have never had this experience with a doctor after taking an MRI Of course being busy, is the best excuse . Although when I was there, the waiting room was empty. The irony is that I wasn’t going to write a review of the bad office visit, but it’s the lack of follow up that prompted me.

I’m an athlete who is always on the go and I put my body through a lot of physical activities. A few years ago I started body building professionally and I think the intense training did a number on my shoulder and it was in need of some serious help. The first surgeon we went to said they basically couldn’t operate because it was a 50/50 chance. They scared and discouraged me from doing the surgery. I almost started believing I had no other option. My wife and I didn’t give up and decided to look up top surgeons in New York, because I needed to fix this shoulder and continue in my body building career. We came across Dr Tehrany, I was still skeptical from the last consult, so we asked around about Dr Tehrany and we got nothing but great review of his practice. When we went for the app, I was still very skeptical but Dr Tehrany and his PA came in, shook my hands and I immediately felt the confidence in the room. I work in healthcare, I’m around other nurses, PA’s and doctors all day and I can sense the knowledge from one’s demeanor. I was not disappointed as they both broke down my injury to me. They were aware that I worked in healthcare so they spoke to me in medical terms, which I appreciated. They assured me that the procedure was something very doable. We made the appointment, went for the surgery and I have never been more satisfied. The surgery was done lapriscopically and the scar, which you can see in the last picture, is so small and healed really nicely. The post opp visit was also very satisfactory and insightful. He gave me clear and concise instructions and also took into account my life style. It was one of the smoothest things I’ve had to do medically. If you are an athlete or someone who is serious about a great surgery and a great facility, I strongly recommend the office of Dr Tehrany.

I wanted to make an appointment as a new patient with Dr. Teyrany. I tried calling but the phone is not answered so you have to leave a message which is always a red flag. I left a message Tuesday, 10/7 and it is Friday, 10/17 and I have not received a call back. Since then, I have already seen another doctor and had an MRI.

Finding the right doctor when one is faced with daunting knee pain (on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being excruciating), I was definitely at a 10. Bone on bone arthritis, a slight meniscus tear, knee cartilage that looked like a NYC street filled with potholes….it was a perfect storm of pain. I did see another doctor before a friend recommended Dr. Tehrany. Thank goodness for that recommendation. I am not shy in sharing my age….I am 61 and most of what led up to this pain is simply life wear and tear combined with the debilitating effects of arthritis. My profession is not a 9-5 desk job in any way, shape or form so ease of mobility is paramount (and I am far from wanting to retire😊) From the first moment I interacted with Dr. Tehrany and his team, I thought to myself, “My knee could not be in better hands😊”. First and foremost, Dr. Tehrany and his staff took time to hear me; something that other doctors did not. Secondly, my options were explained thoroughly, concisely and in an empathetic manner. Lastly, and maybe this is most important, everyone took the time to remember that there is a person attached to the knee….not just a patient with an insurance claim number. We even found time to giggle when one would least expect it. Every question was answered; every concern was addressed and once a course of action was decided upon, everything transpired in a quick and efficient manner. I never expected a miracle….I understand the reality of this knee issue….but I can say, remember that excruciating pain factor of 10 that I mentioned earlier? Immediately after the surgery (truly from the day after the surgery to present day), I was no longer referencing that scale as one of pain. Discomfort, yes; soreness on occasion, yes but pain, no. I went from barely being able to sleep through the night because of the pain to finally enjoying a good night’s sleep. And I was able to resume my very active work duties in 3-weeks time. I just returned from my 2nd post-op appointment and Dr. Tehrany said, “How’s my knee doing?” There is a lot of truth behind that statement because he and his team have given me something that one can not put a price on….improved quality of everyday living. This is largely due to the expertise and skill set of Dr. Tehrany. I walk, bend, stretch and live my best life everyday …in gratitude to Dr. Armin Tehrany and his team of brilliant health care professionals.

Dr. Tehrany worked on my shoulder after multiple dislocations to stabilize it. I am 6 months into recovery and grateful that I took his recommendation to have the surgery. He and his team are extremely professional and patiently dispelled any anxiety or worry I or my parents have had both prior to and post-operation. You can truly tell that he genuinely cares about his patients—definitely a surgeon who deserves all the recognitions that he got.
